About Climate Conscious Travel

Climate Conscious Travel (CCT) is a startup that works with destinations and businesses to integrate community-centric climate action in tourism offerings. Current projects include designing carbon neutral trips, climate change communication through tourism, digital empowerment for tourism dependent rural communities, and sustainability storytelling.

 

Position overview

CCT is looking for someone passionate about conscious travel and storytelling, for a remote internship program. The intern will have the opportunity to work across a range of sustainable tourism and storytelling projects, with a focus on research, writing and communications. The position is best suited for enrolled students or very recent graduates, and will require a commitment of 15-20 hours per week, for a 12 week period. It is open to all nationalities and locations, as long as they have access to a steady internet connection.

Responsibilities include:

  • Research support for an ongoing project to design carbon neutral trips for a tourism provider

  • Writing articles / blog posts at the intersection of travel, the environment and local communities

  • Communication of CCT’s work through social media and a monthly newsletter

 

Desired skills:

  • Passion for sustainable tourism and storytelling

  • Strong research, writing and communication skills

  • Familiarity with social media platforms, especially Linkedin and Instagram

  • Familiarity with platforms like Squarespace and Substack – or the drive to learn

  • Ability to work remotely and keep up with timelines, without constant oversight.

  • Strong desire to deliver meaningful work

 

Time commitment and compensation

The internship duration will be 12 weeks, with a commitment of 15-20 hours per week. Work is based on deliverables and timelines each week, but there’s flexibility to choose your work hours.  

The internship is unpaid, but allows you access to meaningful work experience in sustainable tourism development and storytelling. It may also lead to a paid part time position with CCT in the future.

Internship time period: Mid/end Feb to Mid/end June, 2023.
