Developing a Greenhouse Gas Inventory and Reduction Plan for an upscale hotel in Spain
Client: Los Jameos Playa
Location: Canary Islands, Spain
Los Jameos Playa is currently pursuing the Travellife certification, and engaged Climate Conscious Travel to develop a GHG Inventory and Reduction Plan with a view to measuring and reducing their Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, and partial Scope 3 (value chain) emissions. The plan was based on the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard, and accounted for CO2, CH4, N20, HFCs, PFCs, NF3 and SF6 – the six greenhouse gases included in the Kyoto Protocol. Prioritized reduction strategies were recommended, along with an absolute reduction target from a 2019 baseline year. This project was executed as an academic project, as part of a master’s program at Harvard University.
